Umschau Verlag publishing house from Neustadt an der Weinstraße publishes very worthwhile books on the topics of nutrition, cooking, enjoyment and lifestyle. These books all have a little something extra: sometimes they have cult status, sometimes they are classics. And they are always well-researched and represent the zeitgeist. The jury for the Red Dot Design Award was also of the opinion that Umschau Verlag is on trend with its books. The new publisher’s preview already won a Red Dot: Best of the Best in the high-profile design competition. The publisher’s preview is thus one of the works that is considered especially impressive thanks to its creative and high-quality design.
The history of Umschau Verlag starts in Frankfurt am Main, with its roots reaching back as far as 1727, when Heinrich Ludwig Brönner founded a printing shop. At the same time, he set up the publishing business and a small bookshop, where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a regular customer.
In 2003, the “Neue Umschau Buchverlag” was founded as part of the Niederberger group. The company’s headquarters were moved to Neustadt an der Weinstraße. The publishing house has found its new home in the heart of the Palatinate region, along with lots of new and strong collaborative partners.
The group includes its own print shop, well-known restaurants, the “Ketschauer Hof” and “Kaisergarten” hotels as well as the three renowned wineries “Reichsrat von Buhl”, “Bassermann-Jordan” and “Von Winning”. These are the ideal conditions for putting the good life between the covers of a book in an authentic and vibrant way.
