When a disaster strikes in mountainous areas, rugged terrains sometimes obstruct vehicles from entering the disaster zones. Therefore, victims can only be rescued by rescue workers on foot. Existing rescue equipment is usually heavy and complex, thereby consuming too much of the workers’ energy. Portable rescue backpack – a lightweight rescue bag – comes in useful in this situation to reduce the overall rescue load. The backpack can be used to transport relief items or used as a tool to carry the victims on the back, thus freeing up the hands of rescue workers. This backpack has an in-built carrying system with two flat aluminum pieces to transfer the weight of the carrying load the waist and hips. The backpack can also be used by individuals who are non-professional rescuers to participate in the rescue work.
