These days, countries around the world are faced with several major global issues – the world’s ever-growing population, an aging population, environmental change, which have caused overcrowding in hospitals. With social development, nursing of the patients has become more and more important, especially for patients who need 24-hour care after major surgeries. However, the tight space of the ward has been unable to satisfy the normal rest of carers who stay all day and night. They usually sit in a chair or at the bedside. Over time, they become exhausted. To address this issue, the Hospital Companion is designed. This space-saving bed can be folded and kept under the patient’s bed. In the daytime, it can be folded into a chair with a laptop bracket for the carer’s recreational use; at night, it can be used as a bed to rest and recharge.
