The SnakeHead carburetor top cap, as well as being a technical innovation, composes an optical enhancement compared to factory fitted carburetor top caps of well-known manufacturers. While developing the top cap it has been aimed to solve a long standing problem: To replace the rigid routing by a turnable one and at the same time ensuring a space-saving construction. By systematic use of the most state-of-the-art production techniques (3D laser sintering process), Additive Manufacturing has been used to the products advantage and allowed sparing use of natural resources in the production process. In this process, technical possibilities have been pushed to the limit. The production of the loose but still inseparable two top cap parts in one single production step is unique in its kind and is hardly possible or only to be achieved with enormous effort when implementing conventional machining techniques. Nonetheless, the material used (polyamide) meets all requirements in regards to chemical and physical resistance when built into a vehicle.
