The Avenio M is the newest member of Siemens’ well-established Avenio tram family. Its design mixes a timeless look with contemporary automotive cues. It strikes a balance between a professional, confident identity and a convivial look. When most tram vehicles flaunt their graphic signature over the A-pillar, the Avenio M features a near invisible A-pillar. For the driver, this means improved visibility and a larger cab interior, while for a client it means the front is a blank canvas upon which to customise the vehicle. The platform’s fundamentally modular design boasts universal design features as well as allowing more unique and specific customisation to fit different city environments. This is key, as different projects can be derived per client demands and delivered all over the world. Stadtwerke Ulm has used this inherent aesthetic flexibility to great effect while commissioning Siemens to deliver 12 trams for operation on the new Line 2. They opted to translate the brand equity of its fleet’s unique and striking livery onto their tram. So today, the front of the Avenio M for Ulm deftly incorporates the livery’s heritage and offers a modern yet familiar face to the streets.
