PRIV by BlackBerry, the company’s first secure smartphone powered by Android, is a reinvention of a familiar form factor: the Slider. Inspired by the aerospace industry it pushes the limits of materials by utilizing ultra-light, strong, and refined alloys and composites. It brings the advanced keyboard technology invented by BlackBerry for uncompromised modern input. The TensileKnit body is composed of thin glass threads, woven in a tight pattern for a unique textile-like appearance. We reduced the thickness of the material to pack a 3410mAh battery. It’s finished with a soft-touch coating to provide grip for the user. The display chassis is machined from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and has a hard anodized coating for durability and color. The chassis protects the curved lens and contains mechanical features precision cut into the material. The touch-enabled keyboard extends its usefulness beyond typing. Advanced sensors allow for an enhanced input experience by enabling the slide-out keyboard to be used as trackpad. The brilliant, curved display is protected by Gorilla Glass 4. The 3D lens is formed from a flat piece of glass through a sophisticated process at high temperatures.
