Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon where the stimulation of one sense triggers another. For example, synesthetes can taste shapes, see music and hear colors.

About 90 million children worldwide are synesthetes.

However because physicians and parents are often unaware of this phenomenon, almost no children are correctly diagnosed and therefore receive improper treatment.[k1]

Our task was to make the phenomenon known to physicians, parents, teachers and caregivers. So we decided to show them the world of synesthetes.

Bright ellipses in an organ concert and colorful musical compositions: The ability to see sounds is known as colored hearing. Diverse acoustic stimuli trigger visual synesthetic perceptions. The VR application “Synesthesia – true colors” allows you to directly experience this form of synesthesia and for the first time ever simulates the unique impressions of four synesthetes.
