The Museum of Technology of the Pforzheim Jewellery and Watch-making Industry reopened on 6 April 2017 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Golden City of Pforzheim. An extensive collection of machinery at the former jewellery and watch chain factory Kollmar & Jourdan, a landmark of Pforzheim, forms the nucleus of the new museum. By rearranging the exhibits according to industrial production processes and adding a narrative foil, the assortment of machines becomes a fully fledged museum. The new permanent exhibition brings the history of this production site to life in the context of industrialisation and machine production based on division of labour, affording impressive insights into the various modes of production. As a living museum with presentations of historical machinery by former employees, the museum becomes a place of identification for the city of Pforzheim.
