Dead for a Day is an illustration inspired by an article that I read on a Brazilian newspaper of a woman that dreamed to experience how her funeral service would play out, so she planed her wake, invited all her friends and family and lay on a casket the whole day pretending she was dead. The story was so absurd and funny that I had to illustrate it, it was a perfect article to create a busy composition, full of people coming and going from the funeral. The initial composition of the piece was done on paper and then scanned a colored on Photoshop, but I still wanted the color to have an organic feel to it so I did all the textures with watercolor washes and pencil colors and combined everything digitally.
