To mark the 200 year anniversary of the first “Laufmaschine“ (forerunner of the bicycle), the regional exhibition of Baden-Württemberg in the Technoseum sets out to tell the story of the bicycle. An installation of flashing reflector lights guide the visitors to the exhibition entrance, here a colourful bicycle path takes them through the different decades of bicycle history. Along the way there are different rooms to be discovered, each with large atmospheric panoramas of the various time periods. Open spaces with viewpoints on the scenery reveal interesting perspectives. Visitors can also test and examine technical aspects and functions of the bicycle at interactive “Scout Stations”. As a scenographic highlight at the halfway point the path evolves into a three dimensional steep curve. Besides presenting futuristic perspectives and concepts the “tour” ends in an alternative bicycle repair shop with the “Singlespeed”, todays equivalent to the “Laufmaschine”.
