The design of this multi-time-zone clock emerged from a combination of the world time zone map and the 12-sided polygon (dodecagon). Each edge of the rotatable clock represents an hour. The names of major cities from different time zones appear beside the straight edges. When a name appears upright, the time in that city is indicated. As the clock face is rotated, the hour hand rotates with it but the minute and second hands retain their original position. This avoids discrepancies and irregularities in the measurement and representation of time.
