A series of remodeled glass bottles emerged from Laura Jungmann’s Product Design diploma “Same, same. But different” in 2013. This multiply rewarded work was the origin for the glass collection SAMESAME, which – in cooperation with glass blower Cornelius Réer – was exhibited for the first time within the talents section of the consumer goods fair Ambiente in Frankfurt. SAMESAME is a collection of reformed glass objects, produced by Cornelius Réer in his glass manufacture and made from commercially available glass bottles. Those industrially produced bottles are being revalued both functionally and esthetically by means of traditional craftsmanship. Thus, the distinctive features of the industrially produced bottles are being preserved while their esthetics become contradictory: A high-value individual item originates from a standardized mass product. NO. 02 is part of the SAMESAME collection and is made out of a typical German water bottle. The product emerged from a collaboration of glassblower Cornelius Réer and Designer Laura Jungmann, since February 2014 they are both together the authors and producers of the product.
