When a human being adorns herself, jewelry is most often displayed on the skin. Skin and jewelry are thus closely related. Towe Norlén has been working with world leading researchers in skin bio-physics in order to developed a design that follows, at the microscopic level, the basic physical principles that nature uses when creating the skin . The skin design is named Silk and is applied on a hyperbolic, disc-like form, designed here as a ring – DUNE SILK RING. The ring is build up in a 3D printer, since it is impossible to make mould. It is then cast in 18K gold. DUNE RING has the skin silk structure on the inside of the ring, as a contrast to the highly polished outer surface.
