The “Kinsrow – Distressed Walnut and Brindle” Sunglasses are a representation of our continued material experimentation alongside our drive towards excellence in manufacturing of mixed materials.
The eye rims are laminated from natural North American Walnut veneers combined with two layers of aluminum, giving the frame unparalleled strength & flexibility. The frame is assembled using an exoskeleton design that is recessed in the rims and creates a fashionable “double brow-bar” style, that is nostalgic and fashion-forward at the same time.
The most challenging/rewarding components are the subtle yet complicated Walnut wood inlays that mount into the stainless steel temples. These wood pieces appear to be bent around the temple ends, but are in fact CNC milled to match the curvature of the temples, as there was no alternative to achieving that curvature without failure.
The temples are fitted with acetate temple tips made from Mazzucchelli 1849 Italian acetate which produces the most beautiful premium acetate in the world. The Lenses are high-grade CR39 resin w/ high contrast polarization providing the highest level of clarity, finished with a hardcoat and anti-reflective coating.
