Reduce costs, improve technology: this is the pledge of the plastic specialist igus®. In this regard, another step in the right direction has been made now in the field of robotics. The robolink® D is a self-developed, directly driven articulated arm made of plastic and aluminium, which can be built as a 4-axis robot starting from just 1,500. It is directly driven by a motor right at the axis. Here the robolink® D uses the lubricant-free iglidur® polymer slewing ring bearings integrated in the plastic housing, which are now available as solid plastic options. The robolink® D joints are available in three sizes and can be combined with articulated arms of one to four axes as desired using fasteners made of plastic or aluminium. The overall result is an individually configurable robotic system at a low price, which allows the ordering of individual components and prefabricated systems including construction plans.
