Mingo is a hotel hospitality robot. Mingo can locate itself, take the initiative to avoid obstacles, make free movement, and identify the best path to the destination, and do self-charging when standby. Going deep into man-machine coexistence environment, Mingo is designed to complete the task of room delivery and guidance. We see Mingo as a new species which will integrate into our daily routine. Although it is a useful tool, it also has emotion and life. Its bean-like appearance from nature not only brings a friendly feeling, but also makes it safer for one to touch. We also design a new voice system for the robot, which unlike any humanized voice but a kind of new species or alien language. In the interaction design,we did not use the industrialized button, but chose to give it a sensitive skin reflection system which make some interaction like touching to open/stop/turn possible. We also let the earing light to show the rhythm of Mingo robot’s movement.
