People who raise birds often place their cages in the courtyard or hang them in a tree to allow their birds live closer to nature. However, with changes in lifestyle and living conditions, there is increasingly less opportunity to do so. Eco-birdcage developed from the additional observation that people tend to keep plants in their homes to build a relationship with nature. The combination of flowerpot and birdcage arose in response.
In the Eco-birdcage ecosystem, debris produced by the birds can serve as fertiliser for the plant. Any pests on the plant can become foods for the birds. The birdcage will need to be cleaned less regularly. It is an independent system that, to a large degree, does not need our participation or interference. It is relatively self-regulating. Further more, the enjoyment of this mini ecosystem will enhance daily life.
