The D5 is a flagship model that responds to a wide variety of subjects and scenes with superior performance. It has a new 153-point AF system and supports high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 12 fps (with AF and AE tracking) for certain acquisition of the intended subject under a variety of circumstances. It also offers the highest standard sensitivity in Nikon history, ISO 102400, achieved with a new CMOS sensor and the new EXPEED 5 image-processing engine. The cameras superior performance at high sensitivities is demonstrated even with recording of newly supported 4K UHD movies. The D5 has been designed to look and feel like the tough, fast camera it is, with the pentaprism streamlined to express the agility demanded of a professional tool. The length, width, and shape of the grip were modified for a better hold by various hand sizes.
