Producing printed matters using wooden movable types is part of China’s cultural heritage. The aim of the book “The First Codex” is to contribute to keeping this one-thousand-year-old craft, which has long been replaced by modern printing techniques, from fading into obscurity and to preserve it as a testimony to Chinese culture. The cover of this elaborately designed book shows printing types that are kept in a letter case. The book features several colour illustrations explaining individual steps of the printing process and presenting a range of printed matters.
