“Ever since I was a young boy I’ve been drawing sports cars” is an impressive coffee table book that presents current sports cars over 252 pages. The original title stems from the authors Bart Lenaerts and Lies de Mol and first appeared in English, published by Waft Publishing in Belgium. Claudia Buchholtz translated the book into German. Since 2014 the book has been available from Delius Klasing.

The world’s newest sports cars

This brilliant book of text and images presents 16 sports car models together with their creators and the history of their design process. They don’t answer any practical necessity, except the desire to be faster, more beautiful and more powerful than their competitors. They are the avant garde, the crème de la crème of the automobile sector and as individualistic as their designers themselves, who recount the story of their luxury creations in the book. Whether Aston Martin Vanquish, Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes SLS AMG, Lamborghini Huracán, Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley, Porsche, Jaguar or Chevrolet, they are all given a stylish appearance in this book.

Numerous colour and black-and-white photos as well as delightful sketches from the drawing board provide an insight into the work of the designers and give a behind-the-scenes look that brings the reader closer to the technical finesses of the development work. Bart Lenaerts, the best-selling author from Antwerp, was allowed to look over the shoulders of the renowned design studios at work and find out how the perfect proportions were found and the elegant lines and exciting contours were defined. The result is a unique book that all car fans should have on their bookshelf.
