Formosan sika deer are the earliest resources that were pillaged in the history of Taiwan. This work utilizes the rise and decline of Formosan sika deer to lead to 7 historical periods of Taiwan, including ancient times, Dutch Formosa, kingdom of Formosa, period of Cing reign, Japanese-occupied period, republic of China, and now. In addition, the illustrations of the work represent the situation of Formosan sika deer, historical events, legendary stories, contemporary buildings and terrain features of each period mentioned above. With Chinese traditional book binding skills and its features of easy browsing, the work shows the process the evolution page by page and confers the conflict and reconciliation between human and ecology. It is hoped that this work can arouse the viewer’s resonance on the related issues.
