Dragon boat racing was initially a tradition passed down from Ancient China made to commemorate Qu Yuan, the patriotic poet during the Warring States Period. However, this activity is no longer restricted to Asia as it gradually circulated to other parts of the world and it can even be considered as a form of water sport today. Despite being so, many may not understand the origin and true purpose of dragon boat racing, as well as the art of building these traditional watercrafts. Hence, the main objective of this book is to educate people about the meaning behind the dragon boat races held during Duanwu Festival and the process of how these watercrafts are laboriously built for competitions.
