Basin mixers are at the heart of bathroom experience. Together with basins they are the most frequently used items. They have to adapt to daily interaction perfectly – from morning routine to leisure time recreation. Sometimes a faucet is referred to as a work of sculptural art, but in it’s designated position of use it’s mainly viewed from above. Often views are multiplied by reflecting surfaces or a mirror. So the characteristics of a faucet are more determined by its main views than by its sculptural nature. Due to this limits the design of faucets has to narrow down to particular, iconic features. This insight is at the heart of AM.PM’s product identity. With the basin mixer of Gem series it’s again the top view which features the iconic feature. The soft polygonal outline of the handle resembles the characteristic face of the object. The restrained spout frames the dynamic handle. The polygon shape of the handle works as the geometric completion of the organic human hand. To allow integration in a variety of settings, the linear, polygonal design is referring to the two dimensional, graphical nature of other elements in the bathroom – like furniture, walldesign or tiling.
