BIWAKO NAGAHAMA KANNON HOUSE is a brand-new small museum in Tokyo. This type of museum never existed. The museum is for Kannon (the wooden Buddha statue) delivered from Nagahama, which is a rural city with more than 130 Kannon and 300km far from Tokyo. In this museum, there is only one Kannon. However, a new one come here from Nagahama in turn every two months. While staying in Tokyo, visitors can see various ones. All of those are rooted in the life. So, the museum connects rural city with urban city as a cultural bridge, and conveys the lifestyle and mind of pray to visitors. The space is quite silent and serene, and composed of local woods Hinoki (Japanese cypress).
