Symbol and character of the brand Montblanc
The symbol of the brand is characterised by a combination of timeless design and pure elegance, which is reflected in the logo and in the engraving. The first optimised fountain pen named “Montblanc” came on the market in 1910 with a white cap top, which is still regarded as the harbinger of the brand logo. The unmistakable, world-famous white star stylised Montblanc in snow-clad mountain peak in the Alps between France and Italy reflects the brand’s commitment to highest quality. As an additional hallmark, the number “4810” is engraved on the world-renowned Montblanc Meisterstück (masterpiece) collection pens, which is said to further emphasise the supremacy of quality. The timeless designs of writing instruments, exclusive leather goods, watches, jewellery and accessories with their unmistakable character stand for the merger of traditional techniques and refined European craftsmanship, defined by the use of upscale quality materials.
Fountain pens as a cult object
The history of Montblanc dates back to 1906, when the classic fountain pen experienced its commercial breakthrough as an exclusive writing tool. The foundation for the worldwide success of the company was laid by Wilhelm Dziambor, Christian Lausen and only a few years later by Claus-Johannes Voss. In 1924 Montblanc launched the Meisterstück collection, which many years later turned out to be one of the most famous and so far most expensive writing instrument collections of the world. The masterpiece Solitaire Royal, carefully handcrafted with 4,810 diamonds, is the most expensive fountain pen in the world. Towards the end of the 1920s itself, the company had gained a high profile in 60 countries and almost immediately opened the first leather goods workshop for small luxury leather goods such as notebook cases, notebooks and pencil cases in Offenbach.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Montblanc moved to its location in Hamburg, where design, production, administration and museum are housed. Boutiques were opened in Asia and Europe. The company now has 350 boutiques in over 70 countries. Almost coinciding with this, the company also introduced a new product line “New Dimension”, which comprises luxurious leather goods, handmade paper and desk accessories. A few years later, they set foot in the world of men’s jewellery, and also in the watch market since 2007. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary in 2006, a special edition comes out which is studded with unique diamonds. This makes Montblanc the first brand worldwide that has a diamond cut in the form of its own brand signet. Since 2014, the company has been opening up to the digital world, producing two tailor-made writing instruments for mobile devices.
Augmented paper revolutionises handwriting
The Montblanc augmented paper set consists of a notebook with lined paper and a StarWalker pen in a black leather case. Be it writing or drawing, this innovative product has succeeded in transferring traditional handwriting into the digital age. The notebook’s augmented paper provides mobile access to the handwritten notes that are stored in the digitiser inside the leather case. With a simple push of a button, the notes can then be transferred to the mobile device via Bluetooth Low Energy. The notes can be edited in the Montblanc Hub App at any time.
High quality saffiano leather notebook
The notebook in A4 format with a soft cover binding made of high quality Italian saffiano leather gives the sketchbook its exquisite look. It is therefore an ideal gift for style-conscious ladies and gentlemen, and is perfect not only to stand out on the desk, but also to be transported in a briefcase. The 85 g/m² thick, opaque paper is marked with the unmistakable watermark.
Cartridge fountain pen in the design of the 1920s
The Montblanc Bonheur fountain pen looks feminine thanks to its modest combination of black and white resin with platinum-plated fittings. The design of the cartridge fountain pen is inspired by the 1920s fashion revolution. The handmade feather is made of rhodium-plated 585th 14 karat gold and is decorated with a shooting star motif. The fountain pen can be filled with Montblanc ink cartridges in a variety of colours: Mystery Black, Royal Blue, Midnight Blue, Burgundy Red, Lavender Purple, Oyster Gray, Toffee Brown, Irish Green and Corn Poppy Red.
Small pen made of high grade resin
With a length of 11 centimetres, the Montblanc Mozart Edition ballpoint pen is one of the smallest models in the Meisterstück collection. It is made of deep black precious resin with elegant, platinum-plated elements. The matching ballpoint pen refills are available in the colours Mystery Black and Pacific Blue.
Cowhide leather business cards case
Another product from the Meisterstück collection is the Montblanc business card case, made from full-grained European cowhide. The case in deep glossy black is equipped with jacquard lining and has a compartment for business cards, two credit card slots and an extra compartment.
High quality wallet with 12 compartments
The Montblanc Meisterstück wallet features ten credit card slots, two slots for bank notes and a coin pocket with an envelope. It is also made of full-grained European cowhide. The jacquard lining and the emblem with palladium-plated ring blend discreetly into the deep-glossy appearance of the high quality wallet.
