The Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta is among the most beautiful and sought-after cars of all time. The car which was built in 1959 undoubtably bears the hallmark of Sergio Pininfarina. Based on the 250 GT, the high-power race car 250 GTO was built – to this day the world-record holder as the most expensive car ever sold at 35 million US-Dollars in 2012. The car was an instant classic, with high demand as early as its initial release. Count Guiseppe Volpi, a friend of Ferrari’s and founder of the Venice Film Festival, ordered two. However, the eccentric Enzo Ferrari fell out with him, refusing to sell Volpi any car. The Count was obviously not satisfied with that. He asked Giotta Bizzarrini, Ferrari’s former Experimental Sports Car Development Chief, who was recently fired, to modify a 1961 250 to the specs of a 250 GTO. The result was the obscure Ferrari 250 GTO Drogo – nicknamed “Breadvan”.
