Event Details

Birthplace: Abtsgmünd, Germany

The sanctuary St. Salvador in Schwäbisch Gmünd has been built almost 500 years ago – and it sure looks that old. The Stubensandstein has been damaged badly by the elements. The local authority owner Münstergemeinde Heilig Kreuz lacks the financial resources. A “freundeskreis” (friends of the sanctuary) was established, in which Max Ottenwälder and his wife Petra Kurz-Ottenwälder take part. They designed the “Salvator” watch, a special timekeeper, whose proceeds are to promote the pilgrimage. The hours 16 and 17 are highlighted – 1617 being the year of the beginning of the building operations for the sanctuary.
