Born in 1966, Marcus von Hausen studied philosophy and communication design and worked as a freelance designer for a number of different agencies. In 1991, he founded a design studio, then worked in Toronto in 1993/1994 and, in 1995, founded the agency Zeichen & Wunder in Munich together with Irmgard Hesse. The agency is a byword for real substance in brand management and design.
What are the qualities a successful
communication designer must have?
The absolute will to extract the essence. We expect this from all of our employees, but also from our clients. This is the challenge intrinsic to every new project. There is no routine. If we can manage to bring out the essence, we can make the brand or the product shine. Without content there is no design!
What inspires you?
We are constantly on the lookout for potential partners, clients and employees who share our drive and talent for precise, sharp analysis and sensitive design and production, simply because they are made that way. People like that inspire us. We learn from them every day.
