Manuel Alvarez Fuentes studied industrial design at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, where he later served as Director of the Design Department. In 1975, he also received a Master of Design from the Royal College of Art, London.
He has over 40 years of experience in the fields of product design, furniture and interior design, packaging design, signage and visual communications. From 1992 to 2012, he was Director of Diseño Corporativo, a product design consultancy. Currently, he is head of innovation at Alfher Porcewol in Mexico City. He has acted as consultant for numerous companies and also as a board member of various designers’ associations, including as a member of the Icsid Board of Directors, as Vice President of the National Chamber of Industry of Mexico, Querétaro, and as Director of the Innovation and Design Award, Querétaro.
Furthermore, Alvarez Fuentes has been senior tutor in Industrial Design at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Querétaro since 2009. In 2012 and 2013, he was president of the jury of Premio Quorum, the most prestigious design competition in Mexico.
