Kristiina Lassus, born in Helsinki in 1966, graduated from the University of Industrial Arts of Helsinki with a Master of Arts in Design Leadership in 1992. This was followed by postgraduate studies in product development at the Helsinki Polytechnic in 1993, and her second MA in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design from the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki in 1995.
After working in renowned architectural practices in Finland and Australia, she developed her first products for Alessi, Poltronova and Zanotta. Her specialisation in design management and product development led to managerial positions in international design companies. She worked as Design Coordinator for Artek Oy Ab in Finland from 1994 to 1997 and as Design Manager for Alessi SpA in Italy from 1998 to 2004.
In 2003, she founded Kristiina Lassus Studio which provides consultancy services in creative direction, project management, product design, brand development and design promotion. In 2007, she registered her own trademark, “Kristiina Lassus”, as a symbol of independent and personal production.
