In 2006, a number of accomplished designers, copywriters and consultants in Hamburg came together as the Evonik Team in order to develop and launch this brand. In the autumn of 2007, it was ready: accompanied by a good deal of advertising in print, TV, Internet and on posters, Evonik went public. Since then the Evonik Team has been working from the fourth floor of the KNSK advertising agency right on Hamburg’s Außenalster lake. The scope of their work ranges from trade show exhibits and stock exchange communications right through to the BVB sport sponsorship campaign.
What do you understand by good communication design?
Communication design is the art of presentation. Our job as advertisers is therefore to make the packaging so inviting that the viewer is happy to accept the enclosed advertising message. Almost as if it were just what he had always wanted.
What are the qualities a successful
communication designer must have?
Good communication designers are interpreters. They have to master the language of the client just as much as that of the target group. After all, their task is to translate the client’s message for this audience – and do so as alluringly as possible.
Why did you become a communication designer?
We want our work to entertain other people as much as possible. We are entertainers whose stage is the billboard or the commercial break.
