Thomas Lockwood is the author of books on design thinking, design management, corporate creativity and design strategy.
He has a PhD, works in design management and is regarded as a pioneer in the integration of design and innovation practices with business as well as for founding international design and user-experience organisations. He was guest professor at Pratt Institute in New York City, is a Fellow at the Royal Society of the Arts in London and a frequent design award judge. Lockwood is a founding partner of Lockwood Resource, an international recruiting firm specialising in design leadership recruiting.
From 2005 to 2011, he was president of DMI, the Design Management Institute, a non-profit research association in Boston. From 1995 to 2005, he was design director at Sun Microsystems and StorageTek, and creative director at several design and advertising firms for a number of years.
