Carsten Röhr studied communication design at Akademie U5 in Munich. From 2000, he worked in the city as junior art director for Jung von Matt, then moved to d.efect as managing director in 2001. That same year, he founded tisch13 together with Heidi Bücherl. This owner-run design agency, focused on two- and three-dimensional brand communication in Munich, is characterised by its cross-media approach and its feel for new communication possibilities and trends. With its team of 30 employees, who have grown into a team of experts, it orchestrates international trade fair appearances, interactive applications
and outstanding brand experiences.
What do you understand by good communication design?
Communication design must touch people and trigger emotions, but can never be narcissistic.
What are the qualities a successful
communication designer must have?
He should be hungry and have a feeling for trends and styles. He should never think he had learnt everything there is to learn. Every day brings new challenges.
Which of your projects has been
the biggest challenge for you so far?
The conversion of our own office. One’s own projects always turn out to be the most challenging.
What inspires you?
Everything around us can be inspiring. One just has to keep one’s eyes open!
