Bo Liu, born in China in 1978, has been working in design for over a decade. In 2009, he founded BiBoBox Studio, which focuses on developing interactive educational products for children and has published over a hundred children’s books. Bo Liu and his teammates have received numerous international awards including the 2012 Apple Design Award and the 8th Golden Dragon Award (Best Original Comic for Kids). BiBoBox consists of education experts, interactive designers, professional artists and developers and is currently developing a series of products about traditional Chinese learning and understanding.
What do you understand by good communication design?
Good communication design is able to concern itself with and address current social issue.
What are the qualities a successful
communication designer must have?
A successful communication designer not only should have good design sense, ideas, motivation and technique, but also pay great care and attention to culture and humanity.
Which of your projects has been
the biggest challenge for you so far?
The launch of the Hanzi Study project. The biggest challenge was to merge traditional Chinese character symbols with interactive technologies.
What inspires you?
Most of my design projects are for children. They are my greatest source of inspiration.
