The new Pyrex®, ‚Optimum‘ range celebrates the Centenary of the iconic, borosilicate glass cookware brand. Led by insights gained during in-home consumer research, the design specification was based on the real-life uses and challenges including grip and handling of hot kitchenware, inflexibility of shallow dishes, and inconvenience of cleaning. A further insight was a reluctance to transfer a perceived utilitarian kitchen product, to a presentation environment such as the table. The new range delivers enhanced features such as longer, ergonomically curved handles, undercut to provide a more confident user grip, with or without oven gloves. Rib details are formed underneath so that the upper surfaces remain easy to clean. The dish sides are notably deeper, and wall angles promote easier serving. Elegant arcs flow from the handle into the dish walls to promote a modern dynamic aesthetic that is now welcomed on the table, and locally thicker wall sections deliver a premium blue tinted transparency. Enhanced design detailing has been balanced with careful consideration of brand heritage, mass-production mould design, and commercial needs from this single piece moulding.
