Caprice is a slot-together chair system that can be assembled in a variety of ways. The shape was developed by mixing the fundamental ergonomic geometry of a dining chair with a harmonious 3D surface. It was designed to surprise and provoke intrigue, and to draw people to it. It offers both precise support (for instance, at the back rest) and freedom of movement. For example, the relatively open front section allows for a wide angle of movement of the legs, yet the curving sides offer the feeling of a hug. Aside from the potential for various chair formations, the benefit of the pull-apart design is that the parts can be stacked efficiently for storage and shipping. Manufacturing is via cost-effective moulds. A family of intriguing products can be produced simply and cheaply.
